According to the Verizon Business 2024 Data Breach Investigations Report, 68 percent of breaches involved a non-malicious human element, like a person falling victim to a social engineering attack or making an error. The best way to prevent data breaches and cyber-attacks is to be prepared.
The Wooster Area Safety Council will meet on Wednesday, December 18 from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church to hear from Verizon representatives who will share tips and ways to strengthen your cyber security.
Some industries are affected by cyber attacks more than others. Small Businesses are targeted the most and have the highest malicious email rate of any industry. Manufacturers have seen an increase in financially motivated cyber-attacks and data breaches. The retail industry is at risk through payment card data and financial institutions and healthcare are also vulnerable to bad actors.
The Wooster Area Safety Council meets each month to share knowledge on relevant topics, network with fellow industry professionals, help organizations become safer workplaces, and provide an opportunity for companies to earn a rebate on workers' compensation premiums.
