Learn how workplace culture can improve one of your greatest daily stressors: employee safety. A positive, safe culture can advance your prevention efforts and help you evaluate if your culture is safe for work. When Wooster Area Safety Council meets on Wednesday, February 22, Sherry Leggett, SHRM-CP, Director of People and Culture at Certified Angus Beef will share actionable insights based on psychological safety data from Great Place to Work to enhance a culture of trust and caring while maintaining productivity.
Whether she’s scheduling interviews for potential employees or helping create a new human resources initiative, Sherry Leggett is nurturing the heart of the Certified Angus Beef’s business: its people. As the director of people and culture at Certified Angus Beef, Sherry puts her more than 150 coworkers first, ensuring they’re ready to tackle whatever work and life throws at them. She sets the direction of recruitment, plans leadership and growth development sessions, oversees the wellness and safety program and supports staff. The goal: to sustain a healthy, happy and productive workplace.
Helping people achieve a well-balanced life wasn’t new to Sherry when she joined the brand in 2013 as the wellness and medical benefits manager. She first obtained bachelor’s degrees in sports medicine and management from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and spent the years following obtaining multiple certifications, such as a SHRM Certified Professions (SHRM-CP) and ACE personal trainer, American Red Cross instructor just to name a couple. In her roles with Certified Angus Beef, she’s helped the company earn numerous awards, from placing platinum in the 2021 Ohio Department of Health “Healthy Workplace” to the 2022-23 Great Place to Work certification.
Sherry enjoys helping people no matter where she goes. She speaks at a variety of conferences near and far while still making time to volunteer at her church and children’s schools. She may be busy, but that doesn’t stop her from spending time with family and hitting her wellness goals. Her hometown of Orrville, Ohio, named her the 2018 Healthy Habits Champion.
Favorite beef cut: at the Leggett household, it’s a salt and peppered tri-tip served with a side of roasted Brussels sprouts.
