WASC June 2023 - Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspections

The Motor Carrier Enforcement ensures the safe operation of commercial motor vehicles within the state of Ohio. Richard Bittner, Motor Carrier Inspector with the Department of Transportation will discuss Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspections.

During the meeting, he will cover:

1. Pre-trip Inspections

2. Common Sense Driving

3. Human Trafficking

Richard spent 4 years as a United States Marine Corp (Infantry). He spent a year in Iraq working as a contractor, truck driver, and heavy equipment operator. Richard has a Class A CDL with Doubles, Triples and Tanker obtained thru Pennsylvania Institute of Aeronautics. He has dedicated just over 14 years with the State of Ohio. Richard started as a really bad dispatcher and took a position with the Drivers Exam. He spent just over 2 years as an Examiner before being promoted to supervisor. This is his 5^th year as a Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector with the best job (and boss) he has had to date. He has had the privilege to train 2 of the last 3 hires. He has spent 15 years as a Volunteer/Parttime FF/EMT. Richard is most proud of being a father of 3 and married for 28 years.
