The Wooster Area Safety Council will meet on Wednesday, May 23 at First Presbyterian Church. Presenting will be Chief of Police, Matt Fisher, and Fire Chief, Barry Saley. Chief Fisher and Chief Saley will address the topic of "First Responders: What Do They Need From You?". This topic will address what information or actions at the scene will help make the first responder's job easier and more efficient.
Chief Matt Fisher was hired by the Wooster Police Department in 1998. Prior to working at the department, Fisher graduated from the College of Wooster and completed the University of Akron Police Academy. Fisher was a K9 handler for several years, as well as a taser instructor. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy as well as Leadership Wooster. Matt was promoted to Chief in 2011.
Chief Saley was hired by the Wooster Fire Department in 2005. Barry started out as a volunteer firefighter in Lakemore, a village in Summit County. Quickly rising through the ranks, he was promoted to Chief, which he held for eight years. Saley was hired as the Chief of the Wooster Fire Department in 2015.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM with the presentation beginning around Noon. As a reminder, this is the second to last meeting of the current safety council year. If your CEO has not attended a meeting, they will need to either attend in May or June to fulfill the attendance requirement.
