Life Safety Codes for door hardware include some of the following requirements.
Latch Release - A single operation should release the latch
Force - Panic hardware should be operable with a maximum of 15 pounds of force
Mounting - Releasing hardware should be between 34-48 inches above the floor
Egress - Doors should allow immediate egress
Adam Troyer with The Locksmith Shop will be the guest speaker for the Wednesday, November 20 meeting of the Wooster Area Safety Council. He will discuss the importance of common door and door hardware issues pertaining to life safety code.
Adam was born and raised in Wooster, has worked for the locksmith shop since 2012, and is now VP of operations and part owner of the business.
The Wooster Area Safety Council meets each month to share knowledge on relevant topics, network with fellow industry professionals, help organizations become safer workplaces, and provide an opportunity for companies to earn a rebate on workers' compensation premiums.
