About Us
The mission of the Wayne County Volunteer Guardianship Association is to locate and assist volunteer guardians to provide for the needs of the mentally incompetent in Wayne County, Ohio. The program recruits non-attorney, non-family guardians who are motivated by a personal commitment to help the elderly and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health issues. Volunteers are recruited, screened, trained and provided with ongoing support for their service to residents of Wayne County. The primary tasks of the volunteer guardian are advocating for their ward and making health care and placement decisions.
